About caregivers

Caregivers and patients with chronic illnesses
It is absolutely true that caregivers play a multifaceted and crucial role in the lives of people with chronic illnesses. They are not only called upon to support their loved ones on a practical level, but also to act as a bridge between the patient and the medical staff. However, the emotional burden that accompanies the role of caregiver is often enormous and leads to an internal conflict between "I want" and "I can".
This dissonance is natural, as caregivers often put their own well-being second, leading to physical and mental exhaustion. Perhaps one of the most important steps that could help manage this situation is to recognize their personal boundaries and seek help, either from other family members or from specialized professionals (e.g. psychologists or caregiver support groups).
